Albany County is the state's only swing county currently, having voted for the winner of the Presidential election since 1980. Trump carried the county by just over 3 points in 2024, leveraging his rural strength with suburban losses for the Democratic Party to notch the win. Laramie, the county seat, is home to the University of Wyoming, and was Harris's best turf. The overwhelming majority of the county's population lives in and immediately around Laramie, so small swings there can shift how the county votes overall substantially
Laramie County is home to the state's capital of Cheyenne, and is the state's most populous county. Trump won it by 33 points in 2024, only losing one very small precinct in the Cheyenne proper. The city of Laramie is not within the county, but is in neighboring Albany County
HD 33 is the lone, seriously competitive district in the State House outside of Laramie and Jackson Hole. The district is wholly within Fremont County, and contains a sizable population of Native Americans. Trump won the seat by 4 points in 2024, running up the margins amongst rural whites and in the Riverton area. The seat is likely to be competitive in 2026, and I would say that Democrats are narrowly favored to win the district
