Chaffee County is one that Democrats flipped in 2020 Presidentially, and it hasn't looked back since. Harris won the county by a whopping 14 points. The county seat of Salida went extremely hard for Democrats, and Republicans only found relative success around Buena Vista in the north. This county is extremely dependend on outdoor tourism, which tracks with other Democratic gains around the country
Weld County is one of the state's larger red counties. Largely agriculture industry-dominated, Trump won it by 21.5 points in 2024. Harris did best in the outer Denver suburbs around Erie, and the University of North Colorado area in Greeley. The area is fairly Hispanic, hence why it saw a rightward shift in 2024, leading to then-Democratic Congresswoman Caraveo's loss
The 5th Senate district is made up of a handful of counties in the west of the state, and is a biannually competitive district. Trump won it by narrow margins in 2020 and 2024, with the rural areas to the district's west and south fueling these victories, while Democrats pull most of their margins from ski- and recreation-centric areas, which include Aspen and Carbondale to the district's north
HD 49 contains all of Clear Creek and Gilpin counties, and the Rocky Mountain National Park-adjacent parts of Boulder and Larimer. Harris won the district by 34 points, with the largest of her margins coming from the portion of Boulder (city) in the district. Trump did best in Larimer County, which has the most rural and agriculture-centric parts of the district
HD 59 sits in the south of the state, and is centered around the city of Durango, with a number of Hispanic and Native American communities. In 2024, Kamala Harris won the district by 7.5 points, losing the most ground to Trump in the more rural and white eastern end of the district
