Emmet County is a tourism-centered county along the northwestern coast of the state's Lower Peninsula. Trump won it by 11 points, which is a sizable reduction from its Republican lean in past elections. While the majority of the county's area went for Trump, Harris carried the small towns of Cross Village and Harbor Springs, as well as the main city of Petoskey, the latter by a wide margin

Marquette County is the only county that voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 on the Upper Peninsula. Home to the aptly-named city of Marquette, the area has remained Democratic-leaning in part due to the presence of Northern Michigan University. Harris's almost-9-point win pulled large margins from Marquette, saw her win the cities of Ishpeming and Neguanee outright, and not do as poorly as Democrats typically do in other rural communities
