Juneau serves as one of the state's county-equivalents, and is home to the state's capital. Despite Alaska having been fairly Republican (albeit with an independent/libertarian streak), Juneau is reliably Democratic in the present day, with Kamala Harris winning almost by a 27 point margin in 2024. Trump only managed to win one precinct, a bit of the ways outside of the downtown area
The Kenai Peninsula county-equivalent contains the peninsula itself, as well as some sparsely populated shoreline across the bay. Trump won the region by about 36 points. Harris's areas of strength were around Seward, the southern portion of the peninsula, and the across-bay shoreline. Trump's best areas (mainly around Kenai/Kalifornsky) were much more populous, hence the illusion of Harris's geographic domiance
North Slope is the coldest and northernmost-inhabited area in the US. While relatively Democratic-leaning in eras past, the Trump era has seen it shift notably rightward, with Trump carrying this census area by 15.5 points. Fewer than 2000 votes were cast here in 2024, with most of them coming from Utquiagvik, the northernmost permanent. settlement in the US
The Yukon-Koyukuk census area is the largest county equivalent in the US, and is the largest stretch of turf that Harris won in 2024. This predominantly Native American area went for Harris by 24 points, although its sparsely populated. Ft. Yukon is the area's largest city at a few hundred people, making up most of Harris's margin of victory here
